International conference “Perspectives of Rural Tourism development in Europe“
was held on 20 April 2012 in the Conference Center of Kielce Trade Fairs, ul. Zakladowa 1
On 20-22 April 2012, the 4th International Rural Tourism and Agrotourism Fair AGROTRAVEL 2012 took place in Kielce, accompanied by an International Conference on “The Perspectives of Rural Tourism Development in Europe”.
The AGROTRAVEL Fair is a platform for the exchange of experience between all participants of activities aimed to enhance the development of regions, countries and Europe through rural tourism. The event was attended by voivodeships – which presented the greatest attractions of rural tourism and agrotourism in their regions – as well as associations and agrotourist farms, local action groups and local fishing groups. This year, the tourism assets of their countries were also promoted by exhibitors from the partner country of Slovakia as well as from Hungary and Lithuania.
Fair and conference guests included the representatives of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), European Commission, national organisations of rural tourism associated in the EuroGites – the European Federation of Farm and Village Tourism, and organisations belonging to the European Network for Rural Development.
During the conference the most important issues concerning rural tourism were discussed, including the problems of that sector as well as trends, market fluctuations, and economic and social factors that have a significant impact on the development of rural tourism and agrotourism. This year, particular attention was paid to the development perspectives of rural tourism in Europe beyond 2013 and to the improvement of the quality of services provided in agrotourist farms.
Conference participants adopted a Declaration concerning the mechanisms of support for rural tourism in the European Union under the 2014-2020 financial perspective.
